Conveyco's Directors are Proudly South African and believe strongly in helping others in need, irrespective of their religion. We practice the principles of Blessing others, just as we are blessed by God.
When deciding on which charities we would support, we allowed our work force to choose 2 charities from the area they came from. Our only criteria
was that the organization must be in dire need of assistance and that
there be no “middle men” who benefit from our funding. With this principle 100% of aid gets to those who really need it.
Our coloured staff chose The Happy Valley Soup Kitchen, which is run by Pastor David November from the Community Faith Church Blackheath (Jehovah Jireh Welfare Organization - 043-234-NPO) and they serve food twice a week.
Conveyco and Radio Tygerberg support a fair share of the monthly consumables, but the balance is made up of what they get free at the market.
Conveyco has given a Christmas party for the Happy Valley children (3 to 10yrs old) every year (for the past 3 years); which is organized by Pastor David and a few local parents.
December 2008 we hired the Happy Valley Community Hall and catered for 300 children bringing our own generator, 2 double industrial chip fryers etc.
For the kids entertainment we organized a clown, who did a magic and puppet show with face painting and balloon animals afterwards. We supplied a Hotdog and Chips, cool drink, "Sweet parcel" and a Toy per child. Several additional children also arrived at the Community hall and possibly a further 100 got food before we ran out of provisions.
Our African staff chose Sisters of Mercy Aids Orphanage in Khayelitsha / Missionaries of Charity. The aids orphanage receives no support from the State, nor the Catholic Church, although the 6 Sisters from Calcutta are Catholic. We have supported this noble charity for 3 years to date.
Currently 37 men and 33 ladies who are HIV positive are being treated for TB, rape and abuse.
